Moviegoers urged to read the book first

Don’t get me wrong. I love the film version of  “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, but it really didn’t do the book justice. The movie skipped over a lot of the dominating themes, making the conflicts a little flimsy. The cast was phenomenal, with Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller as the three protagonists Charlie, Sam, and Patrick respectively. These actors could have brought a lot of interesting vibes to the dark themes covered in the fantastically written book.

However, the movie didn’t really address the themes that these actors could have portrayed perfectly. This novel, weighing in at a slim 224 pages written by Stephen Chbosky, dives into the lives of your average teenagers and is a wonderful coming of age story that so many students at CMR could enjoy. So take it from someone who knows, and read the book first.
