Junior Terryn Premo was one of 14 juniors recognized for outstanding work in CMR’s various academic departments at the annual Junior Breakfast on April 12 at Paris Gibson Education Center. Premo is the design editor for the Russellog yearbook, and she is in her second year on staff. Her yearbook teacher, Beth Britton, wrote the following about Premo:

Quite often in the journalism department we say that “Content is King and Design is Queen.”

Well, this year’s outstanding junior from CMR is design royalty. She thrives in the deadline-driven environment and uses her creativity to determine how best to present photos, text and artwork to readers.

As design editor of The Russellog yearbook, junior Terryn Premo is responsible for creating and maintaining the book’s consistent, professional theme and overall look as she helps staff members build beautiful two-page spreads.

Terryn is a successful artist, and she brings those skills to yearbook, transforming ordinary pages into journalistic works of art.

She began assembling her arsenal of design skills in the Introduction to Journalism course her freshman year, and she joined yearbook as a designer at the start of her sophomore year. Her peers and I sometimes shake our heads in wonder when we see her work her magic with text and images.

While her skills in InDesign and PhotoShop set her apart, it is her fantastic sense of humor that is especially appreciated on late nights and during hectic yearbook deadlines. She is one of the funniest, wackiest and most loveable teens I have worked with – not to mention one who meets deadlines and strives for perfection.

I am thankful that we will have one more year together in room 326. I’m lucky to spend my days with students like Terryn, and I am pleased to nominate her for this recognition.
