Mitchell invites students to share opinions

I had trouble writing this column. I don’t know what it was. Maybe the stress of having my own column? Or not knowing how to start it. When you enter the opinion section of The Stampede I hope you read the voices of the staff and students. You can look forward to seeing your classmates’ opinions.  You can look forward to seeing new layouts and designs. I urge you all to write letters to the editor or share your column-writing skills with the school. Perhaps you would like to review a movie. Come and see me and we can discuss the opportunities.

I’m mostly like all of you, I was not ready for school to begin. I do not want to wake up at 6 a.m. and go into a building that is really hot to sit and listen to teachers talk at me for eight hours. But I am not going to start this year like that.

We should all start this year with a good attitude. We shouldn’t be stuck in the past. This is a brand new year and anything can happen. So, freshmen, go to sports events and meet your upperclassmen. Sophomores, participate in building your Homecoming float because it will be something you won’t want to miss out on. Juniors don’t freak out about your ACTs, you can do it. Seniors, enjoy your last year of high school. It is going to go by faster than you think. It will go fast for everyone.

I remember walking into the school three years ago and freaking out thinking “How am I going to do this?” But I’m here, as ready as I’ll ever be to start my senior year. So enjoy the years you have in high school and let’s make this year a year to remember. Good luck Rustlers, I know you can do it.
