Teachers receive honors at end of year

At the conclusion of the 2017-2018 school year, several Rustler educators have received honors.

Special Education teacher Denise Clare is the recipient of the 2018 Dufresne Award, which recognizes excellence in teaching.

Media Center director Jamie Williams received the annual Velma Jordan Award, which recognizes work and dedication both in and out of the classroom. 

The student-selected Teacher of the Year is math teacher Erin Thompson, who is leaving CMR at the end of this school year. She and her husband are moving to New Mexico.

The staff-selected Teacher of the Year is departing PE-health department leader Mike Henneberg, who begins his new job as the district’s athletic director in the next few weeks.

Retirees Sara Buley, Brenda Huston, Terri Jones and Velma Jordan were recognized at the annual Retirement Tea on May 23.
